Canadian Young Climate Activists

Canadian young activists are honored in by Starfish Canada that spotlights the Top 25 Environmentalists Under 25 awards.[i] A young engineer in Halifax, Stephen Thomas co-founded If You Build It to mobilize volunteers to build renewable energy projects such as community-owned wind projects in Nova Scotia. Ta’Kaiya Blaney spoke to the Rio climate conference in 2012 when she was 11, organized the Salish Sea Youth Foundation, and includes environmental messages in her songs. Severn Suzuki preceded her in 1992, shown on video on the previous endnote. Youth are also active in Idle No More, one of the largest indigenous movements in Canadian history.
